Three-time MVP Jokic sustains a 'devastating' injury to his knee.
Thrice-crowned National Basketball Association MVP Nikola Jokic endured a "heartbreaking" injury to his knee while the Nuggets fell 147-123 at the Heat.
The Serbian center sustained the injury towards the end of the second quarter during an accidental coming together with fellow Nugget Jones.
The other player came down on the foot of the big man, who promptly collapsed to the ground holding his knee.
The star, that is leading the NBA this season in rebounds and assists, recorded 21 points and eight assists in the matchup before suffering the problem.
Jokic will have an scan on Tuesday to assess the severity of the injury.
"Instantly, he understood there was a problem," commented Denver head coach David Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Anyone who is injured, that's gut-wrenching, most notably a player as talented as he is. We will know more on Tuesday."
"The team will adjust as a team. Of course, at this moment, I'm more worried just about him as a person and the disappointment of going through something like that."
