Manchester United Poised to Sign Germany Striker Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants
The Women's Super League club are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific German striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Major Signing for United
Schüller, who has six months left on her contract, is known as a consistent goalscorer for both club and country. Having scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. Her arrival will be seen as a major coup for the Women’s Super League side.
Departure from Munich has been anticipated after she was seen holding back emotions while applauding the club's fans after a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in December that the German women's top flight was set to lose one of its leading strikers. According to multiple sources, the formalities for the move have now been completed.
Reliable Goal Threat to Boost United's Forward Line
The experienced striker's signing should represent a significant boost to United’s forward line. Schüller has been highly consistent in front of goal in the Bundesliga.
- For seven straight seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.
Gathering Momentum at Carrington
The acquisition of the German international coincides with a period when United appear to be gathering positive momentum.
Recent on-pitch successes feature qualifying for the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

- The acquisition of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The new deal for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become popular figure since arriving in 2023.
