More than 50 solitary child asylum seekers who disappeared not long after arriving the UK and while in the care of official bodies are still missing, based on data obtained.

A significant number of the missing children entered in dinghies or hidden in the rear compartments of trucks and are presumed to have been seized by smugglers. This region is often the area where they arrive.

Official Data Reveals Disturbing Numbers

Publicly available data has documented 345 children disappearing from their area, with 56 of those remaining unaccounted for.

From 2021 and 2023, when temporary accommodations for children were run along with similar establishments in various locations, 132 children went missing from these facilities. Among them, 108 were subsequently located but 24 are still missing.

From 2020 and August 2025, 213 children disappeared from care facilities for such children, with 182 located and 32 still missing.

Origin Statistics of Vanished Minors

In the two scenarios, Albanian children were the largest group to go missing, representing half the aggregate from the hotels, 68, and in excess of one-fourth from the reception centres, 65.

The subsequent biggest ethnic groups to have vanished from both places are Afghans subsequently Iranian nationals.
