Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at Age 60.

American entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved television series like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at 60 years old.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in Los Angeles recently following treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, according to reports.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones said in a statement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a social organizer who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, such as:

  • The King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Beyond his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat coached, befriended and mentored countless students throughout the years and it would be difficult to find someone who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted on social media.

Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
